Welcome!

16th Annual Women's Conference
July 11-13, 2024

Welcome

We are delighted to be your hosts here at Cornerstone for what I pray will be two days that you will remember as truly good for your soul. Our unabashed objective for inviting you here is to bless you! We know the best way to do that is to provide you with time set aside for God’s worship, informed by God’s Word, in the fellowship of God’s people. May the Lord’s blessings abound to you through the time that you spend here with us! Furthermore, there are many sound reasons for why we believe our objective to be good.  Chief among those reasons would certainly be the glory of God as we “proclaim the praises of Him who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light” (1 Peter 2:9). Love would certainly be among them, “for you yourselves are taught by God to love one another” (1 Thessalonians 4:9).  But consider the following with me as well:

1. Gathering together at a meeting like this is a good means by which fellow believers among respective churches may “hold communion among themselves” in keeping with the spirit and intention of our confession:

The 1689 London Baptist Confession of Faith, 26.14 “As each church, and all the members of it, are bound to pray continually for the good and prosperity of all the churches of Christ, in all places, and upon all occasions to further every one within the bounds of their places and callings, in the exercise of their gifts and graces, so the churches, when planted by the providence of God, so as they may enjoy opportunity and advantage for it, ought to hold communion among themselves, for their peace, increase of love, and mutual edification.”

2. Gathering our sisters together at a meeting like this is a good means by which we may edify them specifically in keeping with texts like Titus 2:1-5, but also by placing them around good and faithful examples of godly women at a time when so-called “women’s ministries” are foisting upon them one horrible, unfaithful and ungodly example after another.

Philippians 3:17-19
“Brethren, join in following my example, and note those who so walk, as you have us for a pattern. For many walk, of whom I have told you often, and now tell you even weeping, that they are the enemies of the cross of Christ: whose end is destruction, whose god is their belly, and whose glory is in their shame—who set their mind on earthly things.”

3. Gathering our sisters together at a meeting like this is a good means by which we may exemplify that the edification of our sisters can be, and should be, intensely theological. When many professing Christian women today decry theology for something “practical”… or fail to handle or even learn the text of Scripture with faithful precision in favor of spiritualized platitudes….we will be supporting the fact that there is nothing more “practical” for our sisters than sound theology derived through diligent study. It is through His revealed word that we know God!

M. Arnaud
“‘The doctrines of Christianity have just as much right to be believed as its duties have to be practiced, and it is not permissible to accept these and reject those. In neglecting to inquire with care into the Biblical verities, and to assimilate them by reflection, the Christian loses part of his virtue, the preacher part of his force; both build their house on the sand or begin at the top; they deprive themselves of the precious lights which can illuminate and strengthen their faith, and fortify them against the frivolous or learned unbelief as well as against the aberrations of false individualism, that are so diffused in our day.

’”With respect to our sisters in Christ, the last thing we need in the Lord’s church today are weak or foolish women parroting this world’s bankrupt philosophies concerning womanhood; loaded down with sins, led away by various lusts, always “learning” and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth (2 Timothy 3:6-7). For the godly woman, strength and dignity are her clothing.  She shall rejoice in time to come. She opens her mouth with wisdom and on her tongue is the law of kindness (Proverbs 31:25-26).

So prepare your mind, humble your heart, and take heed to God’s Word. Listen prayerfully and ask the Lord to work in you both to will and to do for His good pleasure. Enjoy the wonderful fellowship and food. Be sure to thank those who are serving you. Most of all, thank the Lord for His goodness to us through the study of His word together. I pray “that you may be filled with the knowledge of His will in all wisdom and spiritual understanding; that you may walk worthy of the Lord, fully pleasing Him, being fruitful in every good work and increasing in the knowledge of God; strengthened with all might, according to His glorious power, for all patience and longsuffering with joy; giving thanks to the Father who has qualified us to be partakers of the inheritance of the saints in the light” (Colossians 1:9-12).

For Christ and His Church,
Pastor Marc
