Introduction and Exhortation to Stir Yourself Up to Praise God

Of the Fourth Part of Prayer, which is Thanksgivings for the Mercies we have Received from God and the Many Favors of His we are Interested in and Have and Hope for Benefit by
Our errand at the throne of grace is not only to seek the favor of God, but to ascribe to him the glory due his name, Psalm 29:2(ESV) and that, not only by an awful adoration of his infinite perfections, but by a grateful acknowledgment of his goodness to us, which cannot indeed add anything to his glory, but he is pleased to accept of it and to reckon himself glorified by it, if it comes from a heart that is humbly sensible of its own unworthiness to receive any favor from God, that values the gifts and loves the Giver of them.
1.0 We must stir up ourselves to praise God with the consideration both of the reason and of the encouragement we have to praise him.

We give thanks to you, O God; we give thanks to you, for your name is near. We recount your wondrous deeds. Psalm 75:1(ESV)

Let our souls bless the LORD, and let all that is within us bless his holy name; yes, let our souls bless the LORD and forget not all his benefits. Psalm 103:1-2(ESV)

We will praise the Lord, for it is good, it is pleasant, Psalm 92:1(ESV) and praise befits the upright; Psalm 33:1(ESV) yes, it is good to give thanks to the LORD, to sing praises to your name, O Most High; to declare your steadfast love in the morning and your faithfulness by night. Psalm 92:1-2(ESV)

We will extol you, our God and King, and bless your name forever and ever. Every day we will bless you and praise your name forever and ever; Psalm 145:1-2(ESV) we will pour forth the fame of your abundant goodness and sing aloud of your righteousness. Psalm 145:7(ESV)

We will sing to the LORD a new song and his praise in the assembly of the godly. Let Israel be glad in his Maker; let the children of Zion rejoice in their King. Psalm 149:1-2(ESV) Let the godly exult in glory, and let the high praises of God be in their hearts and in their throats. Psalm 149:5-6(ESV)

We will bless the LORD as long as we live; we will sing praises to our God while we have our being; Psalm 146:2(ESV) and when we have no being on earth, we hope to have a being in heaven, to be doing it better.
We are here through Jesus Christ to offer up a sacrifice of praise to you, which we desire to do continually, that is, the fruit of lips that acknowledge your name. Hebrews 13:15(ESV) And you have said that he who offers thanksgiving as his sacrifice glorifies you, Psalm 50:23(ESV) and that this will please the LORD more than an ox or a bull with horns and hoofs. Psalm 69:31(ESV)

We will recount the steadfast love of the LORD, the praises of the LORD, according to all that the LORD has granted us, and the great goodness to the house of Israel that he has granted them according to his compassion, according to the abundance of his steadfast love. Isaiah 63:7(ESV)

Be Particular in your Thanks to God, Marvel at His Good Nature and Kind Providence

2.0 We must be particular in our thanksgivings to God:
2.1 For the discoveries that he has made to us in his word of the goodness of his nature.

We give thanks to the God of gods, to the Lord of lords, for his steadfast love endures forever. Psalm 136:2-3(ESV)

Your goodness is your glory, Exodus 33:19(ESV) and it is for that which all your works give thanks to you and all your saints bless you. Psalm 145:10(ESV)

You are gracious and merciful, slow to anger and abounding in steadfast love, Psalm 145:8(ESV) and have told us that you do not willingly afflict or grieve the children of men; but, though you cause grief, you will have compassion according to the abundance of your steadfast love. Lamentations 3:32-33(ESV)
You take pleasure in those who fear you, in those who hope in your steadfast love. Psalm 147:11(ESV)
2.2 For the many instances of his goodness.
2.2.1 The goodness of his providence relating to our bodies and the life that now is; and this,

1st, With reference to all the creatures and the world of mankind in general.

You have stretched out the heavens like a tent, Psalm 104:2(ESV) and in them you have set a tent for the sun, which comes out like a bridegroom leaving his chamber, and, like a strong man, runs its course with joy. Psalm 19:4-5(ESV) And you make your sun rise on the evil and on the good, and send rain on the just and on the unjust. Matthew 5:45(ESV)

When we look at the heavens, the work of your fingers, the sun, the moon, and the stars which you have set in place, Lord, what is man that you care for him? Psalm 8:3-4(ESV) For truly the light is sweet, and it is pleasant for the eyes to see the sun: Ecclesiastes 11:7(ESV) All glory be to the Father of light, James 1:17(ESV) who commands the morning and causes the dawn to know its place. Job 38:12(ESV)

Thank God for the Many Instances of His Goodness and Kind Providence

With reference to all the creatures and the world of mankind in general. [continued]

You did not leave yourself without witness among the nations, in that you did good by giving them rains from heaven and fruitful seasons, satisfying their hearts with food and gladness. Acts 14:17(ESV)

You cover the heavens with clouds, and prepare rain for the earth, and make grass grow on the hills. You give to the beasts their food, and to the young ravens that cry. Psalm 147:8-9(ESV)

You bring rain on the desert in which there is no man, to satisfy the waste and desolate land. Job 38:26-27(ESV)

You visit the earth and water it; you greatly enrich it; the river of God is full of water; you provide their grain, for so you have prepared it. You water its furrows abundantly, settling its ridges, softening it with showers, and blessing its growth. You crown the year with your bounty; your wagon tracks*overflow with abundance. Psalm 65:9-11(ESV)

You make springs gush forth in the valleys; they flow between the hills; they give drink to every beast of the field; and beside them the birds of the heavens dwell; they sing among the branches. Psalm 104:10-12(ESV)

You have set the earth on its foundations, so that it should never be moved; Psalm 104:5(ESV) you set a boundary to the waters of the sea, so that they might not again cover the earth. Psalm 104:9(ESV) You have shut up the sea with doors, Job 38:8(ESV) and prescribed limits for it, saying, “Thus far shall you come, and no farther; here shall your proud waves be stayed.” Job 38:10-11(ESV) And you have made good what you have sworn, that the waters of Noah shall no more go over the earth. Isaiah 54:9(ESV)

Your covenant with the day and with the night is not broken; Jeremiah 33:20(ESV) but still you give the sun for light by day and the fixed order of the moon and the stars for light by night, Jeremiah 31:35(ESV) and are faithful to that covenant of providence: That while the earth remains, seedtime and harvest, cold and heat, summer and winter, day and night, shall not cease. Genesis 8:22(ESV)

Thank God for the Many Instances of His Goodness and Kind Providence (continued)

The heavens are the LORD’s heavens, but the earth you have given to the children of man; Psalm 115:16(ESV) and you have put all things under their feet, and given them dominion over the works of your hands; Psalm 8:6(ESV) so that the fear of man and the dread of man is upon every beast of the earth and upon the birds of the heavens, and into his hand they are delivered; Genesis 9:2(ESV) because you had a favor to him and delighted in the children of man. Proverbs 8:31(ESV)

You cause the grass to grow for the livestock and plants for man to cultivate, that you may bring forth food from the earth and wine to gladden the heart of man, oil to make his face shine, and bread to strengthen his heart. Psalm 104:14-15(ESV)

You give to all life and breath and everything; Acts 17:25(ESV) and the earth, O LORD, is full of your steadfast love. Psalm 119:64(ESV)

All the creatures look to you, to give them their food in due season. When you give it to them, they gather it up; when you open your hand, they are filled with good things. Psalm 104:27-28(ESV) When you send forth your Spirit, they are created, and you renew the face of the ground. This, your glory, shall endure forever, and you rejoice in these works. Psalm 104:30-31(ESV)

It is through your goodness, O Lord, that as one generation of mankind goes, another generation comes; Ecclesiastes 1:4(ESV) and that you have not blotted out the name of that corrupt and guilty race from under heaven.

Thank God for Making you in His Image

2.2.2 With reference to ourselves in particular.

We must give thanks that he has made us reasonable creatures, capable of knowing, loving, serving, and enjoying him, and that he has not made us like the beasts that perish.

We praise you, for we are fearfully and wonderfully made; and that our souls, our nobler part, know very well; Psalm 139:14(ESV) for no man knows a person’s thoughts except the spirit of that person, which is in him. 1 Corinthians 2:11(ESV)

You have made us of that rank of beings which is a little lower than the heavenly beings and is crowned with glory and honor; Psalm 8:5(ESV) for it is the spirit in man, the breath of the Almighty, that makes him understand; Job 32:8(ESV) and the spirit of a man is the lamp of the LORD. Proverbs 20:27(ESV)

Our bodies are capable of being the temples of the Holy Spirit, 1 Corinthians 6:19(ESV) and our souls of having the Spirit of God dwell in them; 1 Corinthians 3:16(ESV)we therefore glorify you with our bodies and with our spirits, which are both yours. 1 Corinthians 6:20(KJV)

You, Lord, have formed us for yourself, that we might declare your praise. Isaiah 43:21(ESV)

Thank God for Preserving you

2.2.3 We must give thanks for our preservation; that our lives are prolonged and the use of our reason and understanding, our limbs and senses, are continued to us.

It was owing to your good providence that we did not die at birth, and did not come out from the womb and expire; that the knees received us, and the breasts, that we should nurse. Job 3:11-12(ESV)

Though before birth we were called rebels, Isaiah 48:8(ESV) yet by your power we have been borne by you from before our birth and carried from the womb; Isaiah 46:3(ESV) and you keep our souls among the living and have not let our foot slip. Psalm 66:9(ESV)

All our bones shall say, “O LORD, who is like you!” Psalm 35:10(ESV) For you keep the bones, and not one of them is broken. Psalm 34:20(ESV)

We lay down and sleep, for you, LORD, make us to dwell in safety. Psalm 3:5(ESV)

You have commanded your angels concerning us, to guard us in all our ways; to bear us up in their hands, lest we strike our foot against a stone. Psalm 91:11-12(ESV) And they are all ministering spirits, sent out to serve for the good of those who are to inherit salvation.

Thank God for Granting you Recovery from Danger

2.2.4 For signal recoveries from danger by sickness or otherwise.

When perhaps there has been but a step between us and death, 1 Samuel 20:3(ESV) and when we have felt that we have received the sentence of death, 2 Corinthians 1:9(ESV) and have been ready to say, “In the middle of our days we must depart; we are consigned to the gates of Sheol for the rest of our years”; Isaiah 38:10(ESV) yet in love you have delivered our lives from the pit of destruction and cast all our sins behind your back. Isaiah 38:17(ESV)

When the snares of death have encompassed us and the pangs of Sheol have laid hold on us, we have called on the name of the LORD and have found that gracious is the LORD, and righteous, yes, our God is merciful; we have been brought low, and he has saved us, Psalm 116:3-6(ESV) and has delivered our souls from death, our eyes from tears, and our feet from stumbling. We will therefore walk before the LORD in the land of the living.

Thank God for the Supports and Comforts of this Life

2.2.5 For the supports and comforts of this life, which have thus far made the land of our pilgrimage easy and pleasant to us.

Blessed be the Lord, who daily bears us up; God is our salvation. Psalm 68:19(ESV)

You make us lie down in green pastures; you feed us beside the still waters. Psalm 23:2(ESV) You prepare a table before us in the presence of our enemies; you anoint our head, and our cup overflows. Psalm 23:5(ESV)

It may be we were sent out with no moneybag or knapsack, but did we lack anything? Nothing, Lord. Luke 22:35(ESV)

The lamp of God has shone upon our head, and by his light we have walked through darkness, and the friendship of God has been upon our tent. Job 29:3-4(ESV)

You have richly provided us with everything to enjoy, 1 Timothy 6:17(ESV) and have brought plentifully into our hands. Job 12:6(KJV)

Many a time we have eaten and been filled, and have delighted ourselves in your great goodness. Nehemiah 9:25(ESV)

When we remember all the ways that the LORD our God has led us for so many years in this wilderness, Deuteronomy 8:2(ESV) we must here set up a stone and call it Ebenezer, for till now the LORD has helped us. 1 Samuel 7:12(ESV)

Thank God for your Successes and Good Relationships

2.2.6 For success in our callings and affairs, comfort in relations, and comfortable places of abode.

It is God who equips us with strength and makes our way blameless, Psalm 18:32(ESV) who has blessed the work of our hands; Job 1:10(ESV) and it may be that though our beginning was small, yet our latter days will be very great. Job 8:7(ESV)

Our houses have been safe from fear, and there has been no rod of God upon us; Job 21:9(ESV) so that glad songs of salvation have been in our tents from day to day. Psalm 118:15(ESV)

With our staff it may be we have crossed this Jordan, and now we have become two camps; Genesis 32:10(ESV) and it is God who settles the solitary in homes. Psalm 68:6(ESV)

If we have enjoyed life with our relations, Ecclesiastes 9:9(ESV) and they have been to us as a lovely deer, a graceful doe, Proverbs 5:19(ESV) we must give you thanks for it; for every creature is that to us, and no more, that you make it to be.

Thank God for the Measure of Peace you Experience

2.2.7 For our own share in the public plenty, peace, and tranquility.

When we have eaten and are full, we have reason to bless you for the good land that you have given us, Deuteronomy 8:10(ESV) a land which the eyes of the LORD our God are always upon, from the beginning of the year to the end of the year. Deuteronomy 11:12(ESV)

You make peace in our borders and fill us with the finest of the wheat: Psalm 147:14(ESV) We are delivered from the sound of archers at the watering places; there, therefore, will we repeat the righteous triumphs of the LORD, the righteous triumphs of his villagers in Israel. Judges 5:11(ESV)

We thank you that the powers that are set over us are servants of God for our good; Romans 13:4(ESV) that they seek the welfare of our people and speak peace to all our people.

Thank God for His Grace to your Soul and for Designing Man's Redemption and Salvation

2.2.8 The goodness of his grace relating to our souls and the life that is to come.

But especially blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us in Christ with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places. Ephesians 1:3(ESV)

1st, We must give God thanks for his kindnesses to the children of men, relating to their better part and their future state and his favors to the church in general.

We must give thanks for his gracious design and contrivance of man’s redemption and salvation, when he was lost and undone by sin.

O how wonderfully did the goodness and loving kindness of God our Savior appear! He saved us, not because of works done by us in righteousness, but according to his own mercy: Titus 3:4-5(ESV) We had destroyed ourselves, but in you, and you only, was our help. Hosea 13:9(KJV)

When we were cast out on the open field, and no eye pitied us, you saw us wallowing in our blood, and said to us, “Live!” Yes, you said to us, “Live!” Ezekiel 16:5-6(ESV) And the time was a time of love.  Ezekiel 16:8(KJV)

When the ransom of the life was so costly as that it could never suffice, and truly no man could ransom another or give to God the price of his life, Psalm 49:7-8(ESV) then you were pleased to find a ransom, that we might be delivered from going down into the pit. Job 33:24(ESV)

When we were doomed to die and were like water spilled on the ground, which cannot be gathered up again, then did you devise means so that the banished ones might not remain outcasts. 2 Samuel 14:14(ESV)

When you did not spare the angels who sinned, but cast them into hell, 2 Peter 2:4(ESV) you said concerning the rage of mankind, “Do not destroy it, for there is a blessing in it.” Isaiah 65:8(ESV) Herein appears the secret and hidden wisdom of God, which God decreed before the ages for his people’s glory. 1 Corinthians 2:7(ESV)

Thank God for His Eternal Purposes and Counsels Concerning Man's Redemption

2.2.9 For the eternal purposes and counsels of God concerning man’s redemption.

We ought always to give thanks to you, O God, because you have chosen some to salvation through sanctification by the Spirit: 2 Thessalonians 2:13(ESV) That there is a remnant, chosen by grace, Romans 11:5(ESV) whom God has chosen in Christ before the foundation of the world, that they should be holy and blameless before you in love, having predestined them for adoption as sons through Jesus Christ to yourself, according to the purpose of your will, to the praise of your glorious grace. Ephesians 1:4-6(ESV)

Yours they were, and you gave them to Christ; John 17:6(ESV) and this is your will: that you should lose nothing of all that you have given him, but raise it up on the last day.

Thank God for the Appointing of the Redeemer and His Gracious Condescension

2.2.10 For the appointing of the Redeemer and God’s gracious condescension to deal with men upon new terms, receding from the demands of the broken covenant of innocency.

We bless you that when sacrifices and offerings you did not desire, and in them took no pleasure, that then the eternal Son of God said, “Behold, I have come to do your will, O God, and a body have you prepared for me.” Hebrews 10:5-7(ESV) And that, as in the scroll of the book it was written of him, he did delight to do your will, O God; yes, your law was within his heart. Psalm 40:7-8(ESV)

You have granted help to one who is mighty, one chosen from the people: You have found David, your servant; with your holy oil you have anointed him, Psalm 89:19-20(ESV) even with the oil of gladness beyond his companions; Psalm 45:7(ESV) and you did promise that your hand should be established with him and your arm should strengthen him, Psalm 89:21(ESV) and that you would make him the firstborn, the highest of the kings of the earth. Psalm 89:27(ESV)

We bless you that the Father now judges no one, but has given all judgment to the Son; John 5:22(ESV) that as he has life in himself, so he has granted the Son also to have life in himself, and has given him authority to execute judgment, because he is the Son of Man; John 5:26-27(ESV) that the Father loves the Son and has given all things into his hand; John 3:35(ESV) and that the counsel of peace is between them both. Zechariah 6:13(ESV)

That he is your servant, whom you uphold, your chosen in whom your soul delights; Isaiah 42:1(ESV) your beloved Son, with whom you are well pleased; Matthew 17:5(ESV) that you have given him as a covenant to the people; Isaiah 49:8(ESV) and that through him we are not under law but under grace. Romans 6:14(ESV)

That God so loved the world, as to give his only begotten Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.

Thank God for the Early Indication of His Gracious Design

2.2.11 For the early and ancient indication of the gracious design concerning fallen man.

We bless you that as soon as man had sinned, it was graciously promised that the seed of the woman should break the serpent’s head; Genesis 3:15(ESV) and that in the Old Testament sacrifices, Jesus Christ was the lamb slain from the foundation of the world. Revelation 13:8(ESV)

And that by faith the people of old, though they did not receive what was promised, Hebrews 11:39(ESV) yet received their commendation; Hebrews 11:2(ESV)for they were commended as righteous. Hebrews 11:4(ESV)

We bless you for the promise made to Abraham, that in his seed all the families of the earth should be blessed; Genesis 12:3(ESV) and to Jacob, that the Shiloh should come, and to him should be the obedience of the peoples; Genesis 49:10(ESV) and that the Patriarchs rejoiced to see Christ’s day, and they saw it and were glad.

Thank God for the Many Glorious Instances of His Favor to the Old Testament Church

2.2.12 For the many glorious instances of God’s favor to the Old Testament church.

We adore that wisdom, peace, and goodness with which you brought the vine out of Egypt; you drove out the nations and planted it; you cleared the ground for it; it took deep root and filled the land. Psalm 80:8-9(ESV)

And they did not win the land by their own sword, nor did their own arm save them, but your right hand and your arm, and the light of your face, for you delighted in them. Psalm 44:3(ESV)

We bless you that the Jews were entrusted with the oracles of God; Romans 3:2(ESV) that they had the adoption, the glory, the covenants, the giving of the law, the worship, and the promises: Romans 9:4(ESV) And that not one word has failed of all your good promise, which you spoke by Moses your servant. 1 Kings 8:56(ESV)

We bless you for all that which you did, at many times and in many ways, speak to the fathers by the prophets, Hebrews 1:1(ESV) those men who spoke from God as they were carried along by the Holy Spirit, 2 Peter 1:21(ESV) and prophesied about the grace that should come to the people of God, predicting the sufferings of Christ and the subsequent glories; and that, not to themselves only, but to us, they ministered those great things, things into which angels desire to look. 1 Peter 1:10-12(ESV)

And especially, we bless you that you have provided something better for us, that apart from us they should not be made perfect. Hebrews 11:40(ESV)

Thank God for the Wonderful Incarnation of the Son of God

2.2.13 For the wonderful and mysterious incarnation of the Son of God and his coming into the world.

We bless you that when the fullness of time had come, you sent forth your Son, born of woman, born under the law, to redeem those who were under the law, that we might receive adoption as sons. Galatians 4:4-5(ESV)

That the eternal Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and there were those who saw his glory, glory as of the only Son from the Father, full of grace and truth. John 1:14(ESV) Great indeed, we confess, is the mystery of godliness, that God was manifested in the flesh. 1 Timothy 3:16(ESV)

We bless you that for this purpose he was born and for this purpose he came into the world, to bear witness to the truth; John 18:37(ESV) and we believe and have come to know that he is the Christ, the Holy One of God; John 6:69(ESV) that it is he who should come, and we are to look for no other.

We bless you that the Son of Man has come to seek and to save the lost; Luke 19:10(ESV) that he has come that we might have life and have it abundantly; John 10:10(ESV) and that the reason the Son of God appeared was to destroy the works of the devil. 1 John 3:8(ESV)

Lord, we receive the saying as trustworthy and deserving of full acceptance, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners, even the foremost. 1 Timothy 1:15(ESV)

We bless you that since the children share in flesh and blood, he himself likewise partook of the same things. Hebrews 2:14(ESV) That it is not angels that he helps, but us; and that he was made like his brothers in every respect, so that he might become a merciful and faithful High Priest in the service of God, to make propitiation for the sins of the people; Hebrews 2:16-17(ESV) and that he is not ashamed to call them brothers. Hebrews 2:11(ESV)

And that the firstborn was brought into the world with a charge given to all the angels of God to worship him. Hebrews 1:6(ESV)

Thank God for His Gracious Owning of Christ in His Undertaking

2.2.14 For God’s gracious owning of him in his undertaking, and in the carrying of it out.

We bless you that you were in Christ reconciling the world to yourself, not counting their trespasses against them, and that you have entrusted to us the message of reconciliation. 2 Corinthians 5:19(ESV)

That you have yourself made him for a witness to the peoples, a leader and commander for the peoples; Isaiah 55:4(ESV) that he was consecrated and sealed, John 6:27(ESV) and sent into the world; John 10:36(ESV) and that the Father who sent him did not leave him alone, for he always did the things that are pleasing to him. John 8:29(ESV)

Glory be to God in the highest, for in and through Jesus Christ there is on earth peace among those with whom he is pleased. Luke 2:14(ESV)

In this the love of God was made manifest, that God sent his only Son into the world, so that we might live through him. 1 John 4:9(ESV)

We thank you that you have given him authority over all flesh, to give eternal life to all whom you have given him. John 17:2(ESV)

Thank God for Christ's Holy Life, Excellent Doctrine, and Glorious Miracles

2.2.15 For his holy life, his excellent doctrine, and the glorious miracles he wrought to confirm his doctrine.

We bless you for the assurance we have that Jesus is a teacher come from God, since no one could do those signs that he did unless God was with him. John 3:2(ESV)

That you have in these last days spoken to us by your Son, Hebrews 1:2(ESV)whose teaching was not his, but his who sent him; John 7:16(ESV) and he spoke as one having authority; Matthew 7:29(ESV) and that we are encouraged to come and learn from him, because he is gentle and lowly in heart, and in learning of him we will find rest for our souls. Matthew 11:29(ESV)

We bless you that he has left us an example, so that we might follow in his steps, in that he committed no sin, neither was deceit found in his mouth; and when he was reviled, he did not revile in return; 1 Peter 2:21-23(ESV) and his food and drink was to do the will of his Father, John 4:34(ESV) in that he was holy, innocent, unstained, separated from sinners. Hebrews 7:26(ESV) O that we may be armed with the same way of thinking, 1 Peter 4:1(ESV) and that as he was, so also may we be in this world; 1 John 4:17(ESV) and that we may walk in the same way in which he walked. 1 John 2:6(ESV)

We bless you that the works which he did bear witness about him, that the Father has sent him; John 5:36(ESV) that by his power the blind received their sight, the lame walked, lepers were cleansed, the deaf heard, the dead were raised up, and the poor had good news preached to them, Matthew 11:5(ESV) and even winds and sea obeyed him, Matthew 8:27(ESV) for which we glorify the God of Israel. Matthew 15:31(ESV)Doubtless this was the Son of God.

Thank God for the Great Encouragement Christ Gave to Poor Sinners to Come to Him

2.2.16 For the great encouragement Christ gave to poor sinners to come to him.

We bless you that Jesus Christ came not to call the righteous, but sinners (such as we are) to repentance, Matthew 9:13(ESV) and had power on earth to forgive sins; Matthew 9:6(ESV) that he came to save his people from their sins, Matthew 1:21(ESV) and is the Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world; John 1:29(ESV) and that he is (to his honor, not to his reproach) a friend to tax collectors and sinners. Matthew 11:19(ESV)

We thank you for the gracious invitation he gave to those who are weary and heavy laden to come to him for rest: Matthew 11:28(ESV) And for the assurance he has given that whoever comes to him, he will never cast out. John 6:37(ESV)

That he made a gracious offer: that if anyone thirsts they might come to him and drink.

Thank God for the Cross of Christ and All Its Benefits

2.2.17 For the full satisfaction which Christ made to the justice of God for the sin of man by the blood of his cross, for the purchases, victories, and triumphs of the cross, and for all the precious benefits which flow to us from the dying of the Lord Jesus.

Herein indeed God shows his love to us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us, Romans 5:8(ESV) that we might be reconciled to him by the death of his Son. Romans 5:10(ESV) In this is love, not that we have loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son to be the propitiation for our sins, 1 John 4:10(ESV) and not for ours only but for the sins of the whole world; 1 John 2:2(ESV) that he tasted death for everyone, Hebrews 2:9(ESV) that through death he might destroy the one who has the power of death, that is, the devil. Hebrews 2:14(ESV)

We bless you that by a single offering he has perfected for all time those who are being sanctified; Hebrews 10:14(ESV) that he has finished transgression, put an end to sin, atoned for iniquity, and has brought in an everlasting righteousness. Daniel 9:24(ESV)
That he has redeemed us from the curse of the law by becoming a curse for us. Galatians 3:13(ESV)

That God has done what the law, weakened by the flesh, could not do, by sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh, who by a sacrifice for sin, condemned sin in the flesh. Romans 8:3(ESV)

That he was wounded for our transgressions and crushed for our iniquities; that upon him was the chastisement of our peace, and with his stripes we are healed; and that the LORD having laid upon him the iniquity of us all, Isaiah 53:5-6(ESV) it was his will to crush him and put him to grief.

Thank God for the Cross of Christ and All Its Benefits (continued)

That appearing to put away sin by the sacrifice of himself, Hebrews 9:26(ESV)Christ did through the eternal Spirit offer himself without blemish to God, Hebrews 9:14(ESV) and by his own blood entered once for all into the holy places, thus securing an eternal redemption. Hebrews 9:12(ESV)

That he has disarmed the rulers and authorities and put them to open shame, by triumphing over them in his cross, and has cancelled the record of debt that stood against us with its legal demands; this he set aside, nailing it to the cross. Colossians 2:14-15(ESV)

That he himself is our peace, who, having broken down the dividing wall of hostility between Jew and Gentile, has made in himself one new man in place of the two, has reconciled both to God in one body through the cross, thereby killing the hostility. Ephesians 2:14-16(ESV)

That he has loved us and has freed us from our sins by his blood, and has made us a kingdom, priests to his God and Father. Revelation 1:5-6(ESV)

O the height and depth and length and breadth of that love of Christ that surpasses knowledge! Ephesians 3:18-19(ESV) O that great love with which he loved us! Ephesians 2:4(ESV)

Worthy is the Lamb who was slain, to receive power and wealth and wisdom and might and honor and glory and blessing; Revelation 5:12(ESV) for he was slain, and by his blood has ransomed us for God.

Thank God for Christ's Resurrection

2.2.18 For his resurrection from the dead on the third day.

We thank you that as he was delivered up for our trespasses, so he was raised for our justification, Romans 4:25(ESV) and was declared to be the Son of God in power by the resurrection from the dead. Romans 1:4(ESV)

That though he was dead, yet he is alive and lives forevermore and has the keys of Death and Hades; Revelation 1:18(ESV) and being raised from the dead, he will never die again; death no longer has dominion over him. Romans 6:9(ESV)

That in fact Christ has been raised from the dead, the firstfruits of those who have fallen asleep; 1 Corinthians 15:20(ESV) that as in Adam all died, so also in Christ all might be made alive, and each in his own order. 1 Corinthians 15:22-23(ESV)

That God did not let his Holy One see corruption, Acts 2:27(ESV) but loosed the pangs of death, because it was not possible for him to be held by it, Acts 2:24(ESV) and so declared to all the house of Israel that this Jesus whom they crucified is both Lord and Christ. Acts 2:36(ESV)

And that to this end Christ both died and lived again, that he might be Lord both of the dead and of the living, Romans 14:9(ESV) and that whether we are awake or asleep we might live with him. 1 Thessalonians 5:10(ESV)

Thank God for Christ's Ascension into Heaven

2.2.19 For his ascension into heaven, and his sitting at God’s right hand there.

We bless you that our Lord Jesus has ascended to his Father and our Father, to his God and our God; John 20:17(ESV) has ascended on high, having led a host of captives in his train, and has received gifts among men, even among the rebellious, that the LORD God may dwell there. Psalm 68:18(ESV)

That as the Forerunner he has for us entered into heaven itself, now to appear in the presence of God on our behalf: Hebrews 9:24(ESV)a Lamb standing, as though it had been slain, in the midst of the throne. Revelation 5:6(ESV)

That he is seated at the right hand of the throne of the Majesty in heaven, Hebrews 8:1(ESV) with angels, authorities, and powers having been subjected to him. 1 Peter 3:22(ESV)

That he has gone before, to prepare a place for us in his Father’s house, where there are many rooms; John 14:2-3(ESV) and though where he has gone we cannot follow him now, yet we hope to follow him hereafter, John 13:36(ESV) when he shall come again to take us to himself, that where he is, there we may be also.

Thank God for Christ's Intercession

2.2.20 For the intercession which he ever lives to make in the virtue of his satisfaction.

We thank you that having bore the sin of many, Christ makes intercession for transgressors, Isaiah 53:12(ESV) and prays, not only for those who were given to him when he was on earth, but also for all those who will believe in him through their word; that they may all be one. John 17:20-21(ESV)

That we have an Advocate with the Father, even Jesus Christ the righteous, 1 John 2:1(ESV) who is therefore able to save to the uttermost all those who draw near to God as a Father, through him as a Mediator, since he always lives to make intercession for his people. Hebrews 7:25(ESV)

That we have a High Priest chosen from among men and appointed to act on behalf of men in relation to God, to offer gifts and sacrifice for sin, who can deal gently with the ignorant and wayward; Hebrews 5:1-2(ESV) and that he has become the source of eternal salvation to all who obey him.

Thank God for the Dominion and Sovereignty to which the Redeemer has been Exalted

2.2.21 For the dominion and sovereignty to which the Redeemer has been exalted.

We thank you that because our Lord Jesus humbled himself by becoming obedient to the point of death, even death on a cross, therefore God has highly exalted him and bestowed on him the name that is above every name, so that at the name of JESUS every knee should bow and every tongue confess (as we do at this time) that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father. Philippians 2:8-11(ESV)

That all authority has been given to him both in heaven and on earth; Matthew 28:18(ESV) that you have set him over the works of your hands and have put everything in subjection under his feet, and so have crowned him with glory and honor. Hebrews 2:7-9(ESV)

That he is King of kings and Lord of lords; Revelation 19:16(ESV) that the Ancient of days has given him dominion and glory and a kingdom, an everlasting dominion and a kingdom that shall not be destroyed. Daniel 7:13-14(ESV)

That the government is upon his shoulders, and that his name is called Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, and Prince of Peace; and of the increase of his government and of peace there will be no end. Isaiah 9:6-7(ESV)

That you have set him as a King upon Zion, your holy hill; Psalm 2:6(ESV)and that he will reign over the house of Jacob forever, Luke 1:33(ESV) will reign until he has put down all opposing rule, principality, and power, 1 Corinthians 15:24-25(ESV) until all his enemies are made a footstool for his feet; Hebrews 10:13(ESV) and then he will deliver the kingdom to God, even the Father, 1 Corinthians 15:24(ESV) that God may be all in all. 1 Corinthians 15:28(ESV)

Thank God for the Assurance you have of Christ's Second Coming

2.2.22 For the assurance we have of his second coming to judge the world.

We bless you that you have fixed a day on which you will judge the world in righteousness by a man whom you have appointed; and of this you have given assurance to all by raising him from the dead. Acts 17:31(ESV)

That in that day the Lord Jesus will be revealed from heaven with his mighty angels in flaming fire, inflicting vengeance on those who do not know God and on those who do not obey the gospel of our Lord Jesus: 2 Thessalonians 1:7-8(ESV) And he will come to be glorified in his saints and to be marveled at among all who have believed; 2 Thessalonians 1:10(ESV) for, through Jesus, God will bring with him those who have fallen asleep. 1 Thessalonians 4:14(ESV)

That he shall then send his angels to gather out of his kingdom all causes of sin and all law-breakers, Matthew 13:41(ESV) and to gather his elect from the four winds; and then the righteous will shine like the sun in the kingdom of their Father. Matthew 13:43(ESV)

And we then, according to your promise, are waiting for new heavens and a new earth in which righteousness dwells: Lord, grant that, since we are waiting for these, we may be diligent to be found by him without spot or blemish, and at peace; 2 Peter 3:13-14(ESV)and then Come Lord Jesus! Come soon!

Thank God for the Sending of the Holy Spirit

2.2.23 For the sending of the Holy Spirit to supply the want of Christ’s bodily presence, to carry on his undertaking, and to prepare things for his second coming.

We bless you that when our Lord Jesus went away, he sent us another Helper to be with us forever, even the Spirit of truth, John 14:16-17(ESV) who shall glorify the Son, for he will take what is his and declare it to us. John 16:14(ESV)

That being exalted at the right hand of God and having received from the Father the promise of the Holy Spirit, Acts 2:33(ESV) he poured it forth as rivers of living water. John 7:38(ESV)

Blessed be God for the signs and wonders and various miracles and gifts of the Holy Spirit, with which God bore witness to the great salvation. Hebrews 2:3-4(ESV)

And blessed be God for the promise that as earthly parents, though evil, know how to give good gifts to their children, so our heavenly Father will give the Holy Spirit to those who ask him, Luke 11:13(ESV) that promised Holy Spirit who is the guarantee of our inheritance until we acquire the possession of it.

Thank God for the Covenant of Grace

2.2.24 For the covenant of grace made with us in Jesus Christ and all the exceedingly great and precious privileges of that covenant, and for the seals of it.

We thank you that in Jesus Christ you have made an everlasting covenant with us, your steadfast, sure love for David; Isaiah 55:3(ESV) and that though the mountains may depart and the hills be removed, yet this, your covenant of peace, shall never be removed. Isaiah 54:10(ESV)

That you have given to us precious and very great promises, that through them we might become partakers of the divine nature; 2 Peter 1:4(ESV) and that the covenant Jesus Christ mediates is better, since it is enacted on better promises. Hebrews 8:6(ESV)

That though you punish our transgression with the rod and our iniquity with stripes, yet you will not remove your steadfast love or be false to your faithfulness; you will not violate your covenant or alter the word that has gone forth from your lips. Psalm 89:32-34(ESV)

That being willing to show more convincingly to the heirs of the promise the unchangeable character of your purpose, you have guaranteed it with an oath, so that by two unchangeable things, in which it is impossible for God to lie, we who have fled for refuge might have strong encouragement to hold fast to the hope set before us. Hebrews 6:17-18(ESV)

That baptism is appointed to be a seal of the righteousness which is by faith, as circumcision was; Romans 4:11(ESV) that it assures us of the forgiveness of our sins and the gift of the Holy Spirit; and that this promise is for us and our children. Acts 2:38-39(ESV) And that the cup in the Lord’s Supper is the blood of the covenant, which was poured out for many for the forgiveness of sins.

Thank God for the Scriptures

2.2.25 For the writing of the Scriptures and the preserving of them pure and entire to this day.

We thank you that we have the Scriptures to search, and that in them we have eternal life, for it is they that bear witness about Christ; John 5:39(ESV) and that all Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness. 2 Timothy 3:16(ESV)

That whatever was written in former days was written for our instruction, that through endurance and through the encouragement of the Scriptures we might have hope; Romans 15:4(ESV) and that we have this
sure prophetic word, as a lamp shining in a dark place. 2 Peter 1:19(ESV)

That the vision has not become to us like the words of a book that is sealed, Isaiah 29:11(ESV) but that we hear in our own tongue the mighty works of God. Acts 2:11(ESV)
We thank you, O Father, Lord of heaven and earth, that the things which you have hidden from the wise and understanding and which many prophets and kings desired to see but did not, 1 Peter 1:10(ESV) are revealed to us little children; yes, Father, for such was your gracious will. Luke 10:21(ESV)

Thank God for the Ministry and Other Ordinances

2.2.26 For the institution of ordinances, and particularly that of the ministry.

We thank you that you have not only declared your word to Jacob, but your statutes and rules to Israel, to us: You have not dealt thus with any other nation; they do not know your rules. Psalm 147:19-20(ESV)

That the dwelling place of God is with man, and he will dwell with them; Revelation 21:3(ESV) and that he has set his sanctuary in their midst forevermore, Ezekiel 37:26(ESV) and there will meet with the people of Israel. Exodus 29:43(ESV)

We thank you that you have made known to your people your holy Sabbaths, Nehemiah 9:14(ESV) and that there still remains a Sabbath rest for the people of God. Hebrews 4:9(ESV)

And that when the Lord Jesus ascended on high he gave gifts to men, Ephesians 4:8(ESV) not only prophets, apostles, and evangelists, but shepherds and teachers, to equip the saints for the work of ministry, for building up the body of Christ, until all the people of God attain to the unity of the faith and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to mature manhood, to the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ; Ephesians 4:11-13(ESV) and that while they teach us to observe all things which Christ has commanded, he has promised to be with them always, to the end of the age. Matthew 28:20(ESV)

Thank God for Planting His Church in the World

2.2.27 For the planting of the Christian religion in the world and the setting up of the gospel-church, in spite of all the opposition of the powers of darkness.

We thank you that the preaching of Jesus Christ, according to the command of the eternal God, and the gospel which has been made known to all nations for the obedience of faith, Romans 16:25-26(ESV)has divine power to destroy strongholds: 2 Corinthians 10:4(ESV) That the Lord worked with it and confirmed the message by accompanying signs, Mark 16:20(ESV) so that Satan fell like lightning from heaven. Luke 10:18(ESV)

That though the gospel was preached in the midst of much conflict, 1 Thessalonians 2:2(ESV) yet it continued to increase and prevail mightily, Acts 19:20(ESV) and multitudes turned to God from idols to serve the living and true God, and to wait for his Son from heaven. 1 Thessalonians 1:9-10(ESV)

Now the salvation and the power and the kingdom of our God and the authority of his Christ have come: Revelation 12:10(ESV) And the exalted Redeemer rode forth with his bow and with his crown, conquering and to conquer, Revelation 6:2(ESV) and nations were brought forth in one moment. Isaiah 66:8(ESV)

Thank God for the Preservation of Christianity in the World to this Day

2.2.28 For the preservation of Christianity in the world unto this day.

We bless you that though the enemies of Israel have afflicted them from their youth up, have greatly afflicted them, yet they have not prevailed against them; though the plowers have plowed on their back, yet the LORD is righteous, he has cut the cords of the wicked. Psalm 129:1-4(ESV)

That Jesus Christ has built his church upon a rock, which the gates of hell cannot prevail against; Matthew 16:18(ESV) but his offspring will be established forever and his throne as the days of the heavens.

Thank God for the Martyrs and Confessors who have Gone Before you

2.2.29 For the martyrs and confessors, the lights of the church, and the good examples of those who have gone before us to heaven.

We bless you for all those who have been enabled to commend themselves to God by great endurance, in afflictions and calamities; 2 Corinthians 6:4(ESV) who when they have been brought before kings and governors for Christ’s sake, it has turned to them for an opportunity to bear witness, Luke 21:12-13(ESV) and God has given them a mouth and wisdom, which none of their adversaries were able to withstand or contradict. Luke 21:15(ESV)

That those who for Christ’s sake were killed all the day long and regarded as sheep to be slaughtered, were yet in all these things more than conquerors through him who loved them. Romans 8:36-37(ESV)

That they conquered the accuser of the brothers by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony, for they loved not their lives even unto death. Revelation 12:10-11(ESV)

We bless you for the cloud of witnesses with which we are surrounded, Hebrews 12:1(ESV) for the tracks of the flock, Song of Solomon 1:8(ESV) for the people of old who received their commendation, Hebrews 11:2(ESV) and are now, through faith and patience, inheriting the promises. Hebrews 6:12(ESV) Lord, give us to follow them, as they followed Christ.

Thank God for the Communion of Saints

2.2.30 For the communion of saints, that spiritual communion which we have in faith and hope and holy love, and in prayers and praises with all good Christians.

We bless you that if we walk in the light, we have fellowship with one another, 1 John 1:7(ESV) even with all those who in every place call upon the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, both their Lord and ours. 1 Corinthians 1:2(ESV)

That we, who are many, are one bread and one body; 1 Corinthians 10:17(ESV) and that though there are varieties of gifts and service and activities, yet there is the same Spirit, the same Lord, and the same God, who empowers them all in everyone. 1 Corinthians 12:4-6(ESV)

We thank you that all the children of God who are scattered abroad, John 11:52(ESV) are united in him who is the head of the body, the church; Colossians 1:18(ESV) so they are all our brothers and partners in the tribulation and the kingdom and the patient endurance that are in Jesus. Revelation 1:9(ESV)

Thank God for the Hope of Eternal Life and for the Work of the Spirit within you

2.2.31 For the prospect and hope of eternal life, when time shall be no more.

We thank you for the crown of life which God has promised to those who love him; James 1:12(ESV) the inheritance imperishable, undefiled, and unfading, kept in heaven for us. 1 Peter 1:4(ESV)

That having here no lasting city, Hebrews 13:14(ESV) we are encouraged to seek the better country, that is, the heavenly one; Hebrews 11:16(ESV) the city that has foundations, whose designer and builder is God. Hebrews 11:10(ESV)

That we are in hope of eternal life, which God, who never lies, has promised; Titus 1:2(ESV) and that all true believers, through grace, Acts 18:27(ESV) have eternal life abiding in them. 1 John 3:15(ESV)
2.2.32 We must give God thanks for the spiritual mercies bestowed upon us in particular, especially if we are called with an effectual call and have a good work of grace begun in us.

We must bless God for the striving of his Spirit with us, and the admonitions and checks of our own consciences.

We bless you that you have not given us up to a debased mind; Romans 1:28(ESV) that our consciences are not seared; 1 Timothy 4:2(ESV) that you have not said concerning us, “They are joined to idols, leave them alone”; Hosea 4:17(ESV) but that your Spirit is yet contending with us. Genesis 6:3(ESV)

We thank you for the work of the law written on our hearts, our own consciences also bearing witness, and our own conflicting thoughts accusing or excusing us.

Thank God for Every Spirit-Wrought Inward Change

2.2.33 We must bless God if there is a saving change wrought in us by his blessed Spirit.

And has God by his grace transferred us out of the kingdom of darkness into the kingdom of his dear Son? Colossians 1:13(ESV) Has he called us into the fellowship of Jesus Christ, 1 Corinthians 1:9(ESV) and brought us near by his blood, who by nature were far off? Ephesians 2:13(ESV) Not to us, O LORD, not to us, but to your name we give glory. Psalm 115:1(ESV)

We give thanks to God always for those to whom the gospel has come not only in word, but in power and in the Holy Spirit and with full conviction. 1 Thessalonians 1:5(ESV)

You have loved us with an everlasting love; therefore you have continued your faithfulness to us. Jeremiah 31:3(ESV) You have led us with cords of kindness, with the bands of love. Hosea 11:4(ESV)

When the strong man, fully armed, guarded his palace in our hearts, and his goods were safe, it was One stronger than he who attacked him and took away his armor in which he trusted and divided the spoil. Luke 11:21-22(ESV)

Thank God for the Remission of Sins and Peace of Conscience

2.2.34 We must give thanks for the remission of our sins and the peace of our consciences.

We bless you for the redemption we have through Christ’s blood, the forgiveness of our trespasses, according to the riches of your grace, which you have lavished upon us. Ephesians 1:7-8(ESV)

That you have forgiven all our iniquities and healed all our diseases; Psalm 103:3(ESV) and in love you have delivered our lives from the pit of destruction, for you have cast all our sins behind your back. Isaiah 38:17(ESV)

When you brought us into the wilderness, there you spoke tenderly to us, and gave us our vineyards from there, and made the Valley of Achor a door of hope.

Thank God for the Powerful Influences of Divine Grace

2.2.35 For the powerful influences of divine grace to sanctify and preserve us, to prevent our falling into sin, and to strengthen us in doing our duty.

You have not quenched the smoldering wick, nor broken the bruised reed, Matthew 12:20(ESV) nor despised the day of small things; Zechariah 4:10(ESV) but having had the help of God, we continue up to this time. Acts 26:22(ESV)

On the day we called, you answered us; and our strength of soul you increased. Psalm 138:3(ESV)

We have been continually with you, you have held our right hand, Psalm 73:23(ESV) when our feet had almost stumbled and our steps had nearly slipped. Psalm 73:2(ESV)

We have reason never to forget your precepts, for by them you have given us life; and if your law had not been our delight, we would have perished in our affliction many a time; Psalm 119:92-93(ESV) for your statutes have been our songs in the house of our sojourning. Psalm 119:54(ESV)

If the Lord had not been our help, our souls would soon have lived in the land of silence: But when we thought, “Our foot slips,” your steadfast love, O LORD, held us up; and when the cares of our hearts are many, your consolations cheer our souls. Psalm 94:17-19(ESV)

Thank God for Sweet Communion with Him in Holy Ordinances

2.2.36 For sweet communion with God in holy ordinances, and the communications of his favor.

We have feasted on the abundance of your house, and you have given us drink from the river of your delights: for with you is the fountain of life; in your light do we see light. Psalm 36:8-9(ESV)

You have brought us to your holy mountain, and made us joyful in your house of prayer; Isaiah 56:7(ESV) and we have found for us it is good to be near God. Psalm 73:28(ESV)

We have reason to say that a day in your courts is better than a thousand elsewhere, and that it is better to be a doorkeeper in the house of our God than to dwell in the tents of wickedness; for the LORD God is a sun and shield; he bestows favor and honor, and no good thing does he withhold from those who walk uprightly: O LORD of hosts, blessed is the one who trusts in you! Psalm 84:10-12(ESV)

We have sat down under your shadow with delight, and your fruit has been sweet to our taste; you have brought us to the banqueting house, and your banner over us has been love.

Thank God for Gracious Answers to your Prayers

2.2.37 For gracious answers to our prayers.

We have reason to love you, O LORD, because you have heard the voice of our pleas for mercy, Psalm 130:2(ESV) and because you have inclined your ear to us; we will therefore call upon you as long as we live. Psalm 116:1-2(ESV)

Out of the depths we have called to you, O LORD, Psalm 130:1(ESV) and you have heard our vows and given us the heritage of those who fear your name. Psalm 61:5(ESV)

Indeed, before we have called, you have answered; and while we have been yet speaking, you have heard, Isaiah 65:24(ESV) and have said, “Here I am,” Isaiah 58:9(ESV) and have been near to us whenever we call upon you. Deuteronomy 4:7(ESV)

Lord, you have heard the desire of the afflicted; you will strengthen their heart, and incline your ear to hear. Psalm 10:17(ESV)

Blessed be God, who has not rejected our prayer or removed his steadfast love from us; Psalm 66:20(ESV) for we have prayed and gone away, and our faces have been no longer sad.

Thank God for Support Under your Afflictions

2.2.38 For support under our afflictions, and spiritual benefit and advantage by them.

You have comforted us in all our affliction, 2 Corinthians 1:4(ESV) have seen our affliction and known the distress of our souls; Psalm 31:7(ESV) you have wondrously shown your steadfast love to us when we were in a besieged city. Psalm 31:21(ESV)

When afflictions have abounded, comforts have much more abounded. 2 Corinthians 1:5(ESV)

Though for the moment all discipline seems painful rather than pleasant, yet later it yields the peaceful fruit of righteousness and proves to be for our good, that we might share your holiness. Hebrews 12:10-11(ESV)

We have had reason to say that it was good for us that we were afflicted, that we might learn your statutes; Psalm 119:71(ESV) for before we were afflicted we went astray, but now we keep your word. Psalm 119:67(ESV)

It has been but for a little while, and when it was necessary, that we were grieved by various trials; and we beg that all the trials of our faith may be found to result in praise and glory and honor at the revelation of Jesus Christ, whom, though we have not seen, we love; though we do not now see him, yet we believe in him and rejoice with joy that is inexpressible and filled with glory, and are longing to receive the outcome of our faith, the salvation of our souls. 1 Peter 1:6-9(ESV)

Thank God for the Performance of His Promises

2.2.39 For the performance of God’s promises.

You have dealt well with your servants, O LORD, according to your word, Psalm 119:65(ESV) and you have been ever mindful of your covenant, the word that you commanded, for a thousand generations. Psalm 105:8(ESV)

Not one word has failed of all your good promise, 1 Kings 8:56(ESV) which you have promised to David your servant and to Israel your people. 1 Kings 8:66(ESV)

And now, what shall we render to the LORD for all his benefits to us? Psalm 116:12(ESV) Let our souls return to him and repose in him as their rest, for he has dealt bountifully with us: Psalm 116:7(ESV) We will lift up the cup of our salvation and call upon the name of the LORD. Psalm 116:13(ESV) For the LORD is good; his steadfast love endures forever, and his faithfulness to all generations. Psalm 100:5(ESV)

We will bless the LORD at all times; yes, his praise shall continually be in our mouths; Psalm 34:1(ESV) we will sing to the LORD as long as we live; Psalm 104:33(ESV) and we hope to be shortly with those blessed ones who dwell in his house above and are still praising him and who day and night never cease to say, “Holy, holy, holy, is the Lord God Almighty.” Revelation 4:8(ESV)
